Chesslimit Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Chesslimit iOS app and the chesslimit.com website. By downloading or using Chesslimit you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Chesslimit is also licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA conflict, Apple's EULA controls.

2. What Chesslimit does

Chesslimit lets you set a daily limit for online chess, counts your finished public Chess.com games, and uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework to block chess apps and websites you have selected once that limit is reached or during hours you have blocked off.

Chesslimit is an accountability tool, not a guarantee. Blocking depends on iOS Screen Time and on the app and website selections you make. It does not prevent play on other devices, on hardware you do not control, or in apps and on sites you have not selected. You remain responsible for your own behaviour.

3. Accounts

Signing in with Apple or Google creates a Chesslimit account so your limits can sync between your devices. You are responsible for keeping access to the Apple or Google account you sign in with. You can delete your Chesslimit account and its synced data at any time from Settings › Account › Delete account and data inside the app.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Chesslimit Premium is an auto-renewing subscription offered at $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year, in each case following a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Prices may vary by region and are shown in the app before you purchase.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling an active free trial forfeits the unused portion of that trial. Trial eligibility is determined by the App Store.

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions; Chesslimit cannot issue refunds directly.

5. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or interfere with Chesslimit or its backend services, and do not use the app to access another person's data or to circumvent Screen Time controls set by someone else.

6. Third-party services

Chesslimit relies on Apple Screen Time, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and the public Chess.com API. Chesslimit is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Chess.com or Apple.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Chesslimit is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chesslimit's total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

8. Changes

These Terms may be updated. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
